My name is Emmanuel Maduneme, a Ph.D. candidate in Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of Oregon, Eugene, expecting to graduate in June 2025. I hold a Master's degree in Strategic Communication from the University of South Florida, Tampa, and a Bachelor's degree in Mass Communication from Madonna University, Nigeria.
My research sits at the intersection of journalism, audience studies, and media psychology, examining how news audiences experience and are affected by contemporary media technologies. My overall research objective is to make mediated communication relevant and useful in meeting audience needs, and helping them solve social issues.
With over nine years of combined experience in multimedia journalism—six years in radio and three years in television broadcasting—I specialize in digital storytelling across multiple platforms. My expertise includes audio/visual media scriptwriting, mobile videography, and production using the Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere Pro, Audition, Photoshop).
Some of my current research works include the effects of solutions journalism on civic participation across health/environmental issues, and understanding media audience needs using HCI/UX frameworks.
